Saban should have stuck with what he knew best. He was absolutely a putz while he coached the Dolphins!

Bear never put up with any crap either. The team feared and respected him at the same time.

Probably both coaching and recruiting, If I was a blue chip recruit, I would want to go to the program and coach thats going to be a strict disciplinarian. That program and coach is at University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa. Saban dont put up with no mess.

Nancy, Good point about the cpllege coaches. Maybe thyre give a few more years automatically because the school might want to see how that coachs initial class develops over a 4 year period.

the thing is it was Belima who made the choose of leaving the Badgers (Big Ten) not Alvarez or the school letting him go.

I may be out in left field, but I tend to think college coaches have better contracts - possibly SEC more so than ACC. They stick around longer. They have the ability to look at their talents coming in as freshmen and most of the time work with them through being seniors. If NFL coaches dont make it to the playoffs within 2 years, they are outta there. Not so much so with college coaches - they have so many bowl games now to choose from - they can still look good even if they dont make it to the BCS.

Good question Bill!! Im a die hard Virginia fan and a fan of the ACC. I often wondered as well, I believe its a combination of coaching and recruiting. Tough choice here.

I think its a combination of the top two Bill. After looking at Bamas 2 running backs last night, I think they would have given the Chiefs a good game. The only player from Notre Dame that I was 100% impressed with their big tight end(#80). He was a mule. I mentioned with another comment that I was not only hoping Bama would beat them, but I was hoping they would kill them and my wish was answered.

I didnt create this challenge because I think the SEC is far and away the best conference in college football, but theyve been very successful in the BCS champions***p game for a while now and Id like to know why you think that is. I know the other conferences recruit just as hard and they have very good programs.I dont mean to pick on ND (so ND fans please dont send me nasty messages) but last night Bama made thm look like they didnt belong in that game. I think they would have done that to Kansas State or Oregon, or whoever. Why do you think that is?
